Rebate Programs

rebates banner

The PPEC rebate incentive program was designed to encourage our residential consumers to install energy efficient cooling and water heating equipment in an off-peak summer load curve manner. With the shift from winter peaking to summer peaking, the focus of this program must be shifted to reflect the summer peak load. The combination of reduced effects of peak demand charges, the shift from winter to summer peak, and the economics of running high efficiency cooling equipment . It is in the best interest of the cooperative and our members, to modify the rebate program in a manner which will increase the installation of air conditioning equipment with the installation of a Radio Control Switch (RCS) to control summer peaks.

To accomplish reduced demand in the summer, Buckeye Power is supplying the cooperative with new RCS’s for cooling mode. This control can shut off the a/c for up to 12 minutes out of a 30 minute time frame during peak demand conditions.

All residential consumers, in good standing, who have not already received a rebate and meet the requirements listed below, are eligible for one rebate per service address for each appliance purchased per lifetime of the consumer.

It is the responsibility of the HVAC installer to complete and forward all required rebate application forms to PPEC in a timely manner.

Upon inspection, approval and the installation of a Radio Control Switch (RCS), a credit will be applied to the consumers account. PPEC will strive to inspect each installation within 4-6 weeks after receiving the properly completed application. Installation of a Radio Control Switch (RCS) is required to be eligible for a rebate, the RCS must remain operational for five years on all equipment. The removal of the RCS for any reason is prohibited and will require the repayment of the complete rebate to the cooperative.  Federal Tax Credits are also available for being Energy Efficient.  Click here to go to the Energy Star website to find out more.

Radio Control Switch (RCS) Rebate

A radio-controlled switch (RCS) is a device that is installed on select air conditioning and electric water heater systems.  The purpose of the radio-controlled switch is to help prevent the cooperative from exceeding a preset maximum amount of power being consumed by all member loads combined, called a peak.  During a peak alert, when the electric use is extremely high, the RCS turns off power to the air conditioning and electric water heater systems in effort to keep rates stable by reducing the peak demand.

EXISTING A/C EQUIPMENT AND WATER HEATERS WITHOUT A PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED Radio Control Switch (RCS) and no rebate issued = $25.00 initial account credit + $5.00 account credit per month during peak months (June-August)
