Ohio’s electric cooperatives offer scholarships.
Since 1954, Ohio’s electric cooperatives have been helping graduating seniors continue their education through the Children of Members Scholarship Program. Each cooperative awards scholarships locally and will select one representative to compete for additional scholarship money from the statewide association, Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives, in Columbus.
Local prize amounts are as follows:
- 1st – $1,000 awards
- 2nd – $750 awards
- 3rd – $500 awards
- Five $250 honorable mentions

General PPEC Scholarships: $5,000
- Ten(10) $500 scholarships awarded via a random drawing.
- Done via a video at the annual meeting.
- Open to any member of any age (adult or college-aged)
- Any schooling – tech/trade/university
- Must show proof of transcript or enrollment letter
- No GPA requirements
- One scholarship win per student - not eligible if you have been awarded any other PPEC scholarships in the same calendar year.
- Must be a residential or general account holder or resident of the account holder's home.
Community Champions Award (to spotlight our core value of commitment to community)
- $1,500 scholarship to a student making an impact locally and giving back to their community.
- Requires a submission and an essay detailing their efforts.
- Is not based on academic performance.
- Can be used for any type of schooling – tech/trade/university
- Must show proof of transcript or enrollment letter
- Open to any member of any age (adult or college-aged)
- No GPA requirements
- Apply with a letter of recommendation or nomination from community members.
- Must live in the PPEC Service territory area but not necessarily a PPEC member.
