This year's corn maze at Weller Farms features a special design to celebrate Paulding Putnam's 90th anniversary - complete with the "double P's" from the Paulding Putnam logo, a lineman, and a nod to ninety decades of service. It's just one of many fall attractions that make this local farm a must-visit location for fall family fun.
What began as Auglaize Canoe & Kayak has expanded over the past few years into a full fall experience.
"Paddling may be the heart of summer," says owner Liz Weller, "but autumn brings a whole new kind of magic to the farm."
One-of-a-kind features include a riverfront hayride with fun, interactive scenes starring a crew of friendly skeletons. Kids can explore a specially designed mini corn maze (this year's theme is Willy Wonka) or burn off energy in the play area with a bounce house, giant yard games, and mini golf. The popular barrel train ride is always a hit with younger visitors, too.
After all that excitement, families can slow down and soak in the season with a visit to the pumpkin patch. During the summer, it is lovingly tended by "Grandpa Doug," who checks on the pumpkins daily to ensure they are just right for carving or decorating in the fall.
Weller Farms also has some delicious food options in store, as guests can enjoy Grant's Smokin' Wheels BBQ. They will be on-site the entire season with a fall-themed menu and kid-friendly options. Weller's delicious apple cider is back! Enjoy it served hot, cold, or as a yummy slushy.
New this year are the Binzebos, made from repurposed grain bins and transformed into cozy rental spaces for private gatherings. Each Binzebo features seating, a firepit area, a live-edge bar with a refrigerator, a TV, Bluetooth speakers, and lawn games. It's the perfect spot for a party, reunion, or casual get-together.
Special event days throughout the season include helicopter rides, a candy drop, a petting zoo, trick-or-treat in the corn maze, and flashlight nights for those seeking a kid-friendly "spooky" corn maze.
Weller Farms is open for fall fun starting Labor Day throughout October 31: Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., and weekdays by appointment for groups. Admission and details can be found on their website or on their Facebook page. The farm, located along Paulding Putnam lines, is at 24821 Road 207, Oakwood, OH, and can be reached at 419-594-3456.
