Adam now works as a self-employed contractor with Schnipke Contracting LLC, which was passed down to him from his great grandfather, who started the business.
How do you spend your free time?
I take pride in my local community and volunteer with plenty of community events and fundraisers. When I'm not doing that, you'll find me outside! Both me and my family love the outdoors as well as the variety of activities that come with it, but bow hunting with my children is a particular favorite. There are few things more relaxing than sitting in a tree stand with one of my kids for a few hours on a fall morning/evening, just enjoying God’s creation in peace and quiet.
What is a fun or little-known fact about yourself?
I am color deficient. This means that I can see colors, but everything I see is shades different than what everyone else sees. My eye doctor once told me that I am the worst case he has ever seen. My wife has to pick out most of my outfits for me.
Why did you want to become a PPEC trustee?
From the time I was young, my parents taught me the value of volunteering and community/church involvement. I love how we can have all sorts of people with completely different opinions and viewpoints come together, civilly, for the common good. So when the open District 8 seat came up for election in 2021, I had the courage to run because I wanted to serve my community in a new way.
Why do you think people should be involved in their electric company?
Your Co-op has an amazing staff that truly cares about their members, so when you stay involved, they put in the work to make you happy and save you money, whether that be through community events, customer appreciation day, valuable information, and more.
What do you love most about your community?
The people. Hands down. I just love being a part of a small community/county where you are surrounded by people who you know and trust, who care about each other, and who are there for each other in times of need.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Ever since I was old enough to walk, I was in the shop with my dad working on carpentry projects with him. Otherwise, I love to cook and thought that if I didn't work in construction, I would be a chef.
What’s a saying/motto you live by?
Trust in GOD! When big moments in life don’t go as I think they should, I have to remind myself that it is all part of a bigger plan than what I see.
What future concerns do you have about the electric industry?
I'm afraid that policy makers are being too hasty to transition into renewables and carbon-free energy too quickly, which will negatively impact reliability and affordability. I am not against renewable and carbon-free power, but I don't think we're ready for the transition.
