How do you spend your free time?
I enjoy watching my kids in the athletic sports they participate in and family vacations. I enjoy farming and hunting pheasants in Iowa with my German Shorthaired Pointers. I love watching THE Ohio State Buckeyes.
What is a fun or little-known fact about yourself?
There isn’t much that people don’t know about me. I’m an open book.
Why did you want to become a PPEC trustee?
I feel now is an exciting time to serve with all the different renewable energy resources and technologies to see how/if these can be utilized in a cost-effective manner for the betterment of the cooperative. Having served on various boards in the past and having been employed by organizations with governing boards for 20 years, I feel a sense of duty to serve my community.
Why do you think people should be involved in their electric company?
To gain a better understanding of the electric utility industry. To have a better understanding of what programs are offered through the cooperative that could save them money and the cooperative money. To understand how government regulation effects the member rates. Hopefully they look into the Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE) and understand how the program works for the members and in turn they join the ACRE program.
What do you love most about your community?
That one is easy: Definitely the people.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A commercial airlines pilot, because it sounded exciting.
What’s a saying/motto you live by?
Life is about choices, and the outcome of your life is based on the choices you make.
What future concerns do you have about the electric industry?
Adding more renewable energy resources, due to regulatory mandates and members' request. Improving and maintaining utility infrastructure to keep up with customer demands. Retaining and recruiting a skilled workforce.
