Hurricane Helene caused widespread devastation across western North Carolina in late September, leaving thousands without power. PPEC linemen Brandon Burelison, Adam Drummelsmith, Andrew Hermiller, Jordan Mohler, and Operations Manager Tim Bowley joined over 45 crews in a large mutual aid effort to assist French Broad Electric Membership Corporation in Marshall, North Carolina.
Following the cooperative principle of "Cooperation Among Cooperatives," the crew worked alongside 300 linemen navigating tough terrain to help restore power to more than 42,000 members. They helped replace over 300 broken poles and rebuilt entire sections of power lines from the ground up.
PPEC is proud to have helped in the restoration process, with our crew's efforts making a big difference in getting communities back on their feet. Their hard work shows the impact co-ops can have when we come together to support those in need.
