Tara Schlatter wins Q1 Rockstar Award

Monday | May 23, 2022
All News

*This video shows PPEC's surprise reveal of the award to Tara with CEO George Carter thanking her for her dedication to the co-op.

Congratulations to System Software Analyst Tara Schlatter, who was voted by PPEC’s employees as the 2022 Quarter 1 Rockstar Employee! This new internal quarterly recognition program allows employees to nominate and vote on deserving co-workers who they feel have gone above and beyond or deserve recognition.

Rockstar award and magnet

In her role, Tara manages software (like NISC programs, which handles billing and outages) for the co-op, explores ways for PPEC to expand capabilities and maximize efficiencies, and helps with IT and cyber security needs. She recently launched a new SkillUp employee-to-employee training program, so co-workers can better learn how each person at the company impacts others and what their role looks like. Tara also serves as a resource for many employees, as her varied experience across departments makes her knowledgeable about capital credits, service orders, accounting, and much more.

Tara was hired by PPEC in July 2007 as a member service intern. She went full-time in 2010.

Q&A with Tara after receiving the award:

• What does the Rockstar Award mean to you?

“To be honest, I was hoping not to receive it as I do not like being the center of attention… but I am thankful to my coworkers for thinking of me, even though I feel like I was just doing my job.”

• What projects have you been working on? What’s had the most impact?

“My job is different each day. In the last quarter, I have been working on catching up multiple minor projects, and setting up the new internal SkillUp Training program. Currently I am working on setting up new security settings for NISC’s software products and starting the implementation of MDMS. I think the new SkillUp Training classes have been most impactful for our employees; this has been a request for multiple years between our coworkers to learn more about what others in the company do and how their jobs affect each other in the workplace across departments.”

• Why do you enjoy working at PPEC?

“I enjoy the people that I work with. I like being able to work close to home, and I truly enjoy the work I do.”

Tara Schlatter with her Rockstar award

Her co-workers who nominated her said:

  • Tara is a total Rockstar! She is always willing to help others in inside or outside of PPEC. She is very knowledgeable and a huge asset to our company.
  • There are so many amazing employees here that it is hard to pick just one person, but based on this last quarter, I am nominating Tara Schlatter. Tara is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to lend a hand. This last month is an example of that. I had to miss several days of work due to unforeseen family needs during one of my busiest weeks of the month in the Accounting Department. Not only did Tara handle her day-to-day responsibilities, she also without hesitation jumped in and completed all my month end tasks. Most people here have no idea how much work this was for her. I am so grateful to Tara for her help and relieving that portion of stress from me so I could focus fully on my family. I witness everyday Tara’s willingness to assist so many of our co-workers. She is truly deserving of the Rockstar Award!
  • Tara is involved in all facets of PPEC, helping in every department when she's asked. The amount of knowledge it takes to help each of us tackle an issue and time management it involves to make sure all our challenges as resolved....she's amazing and is a “silent superhero.”
