We are excited to welcome Eric Bennett to the Paulding Putnam team! He joins us as a Broadband Staking Technician, helping determine the best routes and materials needed to bring high-speed fiber internet to members' homes.
Here's a fun Q&A with Eric to help members get to know the newest Paulding Putnam family member!
Tell us a bit about your family and where you're from.
"I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with my wife, Amber, who works as a Medical Assistant at Parkview Pediatrics. I have three stepchildren ranging in age from 17 to 29, and we just welcomed our first grandbaby a month ago! The oldest just completed a six-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy, serving on nuclear submarines. We also have two dogs and a cat that keep things lively at home."
Why did you want to work at Paulding Putnam?
"Being a telecom and cable guy for most of my career, I was looking to join a growing company that's developing an internet network using the latest technology. When I saw that Paulding Putnam was building a fiber optic network, I was definitely interested!"
Tell us about your work history.
"I started out as a machinist and later worked several years as a fire and burglar alarm technician. Most of my career, however, has been spent as a Telecom Technician — installing and servicing internet, TV, and phone services. Over nearly 15 years, I've worked for companies like Mediacom Cable, Verizon Fios, and Bulter Telecom/Butler America. I've done everything from buying and stringing cable to installing routers, modems, and fiber ONTs for customers."
What will you be doing here at Paulding Putnam?
"I'll be working as a Bradband Staking Technician, determining how and where to run fiber from Paulding Putnam to members' homes."
What are you looking forward to?
"I'm looking forward to getting out in the field and meeting some of our members."
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
"I enjoy traveling, cooking, grilling, and smoking meats. I'm also into traditional archery."
A fun fact about you?
"I enter an annual smoked brisket contest every September and have been competing for the last five years. I actually won in 2020 and 2022!
