Please join us in welcoming Apprentice Lineman Cody Vandemark to the PPEC team. Cody joins us from Lima, Ohio, where he lives with his family.
Here's a fun Q&A with Cody to help our members get to know the newest member of our PPEC family.
Tell us about yourself:
I was raised in a family of four. I have a younger brother, a sister, and an older sister. My parents love to take us out on the boat in the summer to hit the sand bars and wakeboard. We have a new family dog named Loki. He’s a Bernadoodle and loves to please us. Although he’s almost a year old and tends to wreck our house.
Where do you live, and what is your background?
I currently live at home with my siblings and parents in Lima. I graduated from Bath High School and spent a lot of my time working at a construction company in Columbus Grove through high school. However, I wanted to join this line of work and decided to go to a line school in North Carolina, Cape Fear Community College. It lasted about 3 months through the summer, and I came back home in September.
Why did you want to work at Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative?
When I saw the posting for this job, I was thrilled to see a company close to home hiring. Now that I've started I realized I'm blessed to be at a good place with amazing people.
What are you looking forward to?
I am really looking forward to beginning my apprenticeship and learning more about line work. I also am looking forward to this Christmas. I love the holiday and enjoy seeing family.
What are your hobbies?
Outside of work, I like to golf, snowboard, fish, wakeboard, watch football, and spend time with friends and family.
What's a fun fact about you?
I originally wanted to be an engineer. I think at some point, I realized that I prefer to be outside rather than a desk.
A favorite quote or motto for life?
A motto I always liked was E+R=O. Meaning event plus your reaction will equal the outcome. I like it because bumps will always be in the road, but your reaction will determine the outcome. You should always make the best of things and keep your head up.
I look forward to learning more about all of my co-employees. I already love working here.
