We are excited to welcome Nick "Eddy" Edwards to the Paulding Putnam team! With five years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and a recent move from Texas, Eddy is eager to grow his career in both broadband and the electric industry.
Here's a fun Q&A with Eddy to help our members get to know our newest Paulding Putnam family member.
Tell us a bit about your family and where you're from.
"I come from a fairly large family. I'm the oldest and the only boy, with three younger sisters. Right now, it's just my fiancée and me. We met when she was visiting Texas. She ended up staying for three years before eventually convincing me to move up this way."
Why did you want to work at Paulding Putnam?
"I currently live in the countryside of Defiance County."
Tell us about your work history.
"I served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years as a 0311 Infantryman. During that time, I had the opportunity to travel to places like Africa, Europe, and Asia. After I transitioned out of the military, I attended lineman school to improve my chances of entering the power industry and getting into a strong apprenticeship program."
What will you be doing here at Paulding Putnam?
"I'll be working as a Broadband Technician and helping bring internet service directly to our members' homes. I also hope to continue learning more about the electric side of the co-op."
What are you looking forward to?
"I'm really looking forward to helping grow Paulding Putnam's new fiber internet services and eventually earning an apprenticeship on the electric side of the business."
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
"I love fishing and I'm excited to get back into hunting - I missed out on it while I was overseas for the past five years. I'm also into shooting sports, watching sports, and especially college football - Hook 'em Horns!"
A fun fact about you?
"This will be my very first winter in Ohio - I'm bracing for it!"
A favorite quote or motto that inspires you or that you like to live by?
""Work for what you want." I grew up hearing that from my parents, and it's stuck with me ever since. It reminds me that nothing is handed to you, and if you want something, you've got to put in the work to earn it. My fiancée jokes that it makes me a bit stubborn sometimes, since I'm aiming for a 40-year-old's lifestyle at 24!"
