We are proud to welcome Lydia Brewer to the team as an Engineering Intern for the summer! Lydia is an Antwerp native and joins us after completing her first year of college at Bowling Green State University, where she studies middle childhood education.
We asked Lydia a few questions to get to know her a little better:
Can you tell us a bit about your family and background?
My parents are Shawn and Cindy Brewer, and I have two brothers, Luke and Landon. I also have two dogs, Lucy and Lacy.
Tell us about your schooling, degree, future plans, etc.
I graduated from Antwerp High School in 2022 and I'm entering my second year at Bowling Green State University. I am studying middle childhood education with specializations in math and social studies.
Where do you live, and why do you love it here?
I live in Antwerp, Ohio. I enjoy it there because that is where all my family is, and I like the small-town feel.
Why did you want to work at PPEC?
I wanted to work at PPEC because I believed it was a place of employment that could give me opportunities to grow in many aspects of my professional and personal life. I did not know much about the co-op before getting here other than it was an electric co-op that provided electricity to many places in the area. I now know more about what PPEC does in the community, and it is much more than just providing electricity.
What are you looking forward to in this internship?
I look forward to learning so much more about the different aspects of PPEC. I am also looking forward to going out to the field and seeing how my work in the office translates into the field.
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I really enjoy being outside and going on walks and bike rides with friends and family. I also am a big sports fan, whether it is watching or playing. I love listening to all different types of music and podcasts.
A fun or little-known fact about you?
A fun fact about me is I have never been out of the country, but if I could choose one place out of the country to visit first, it would be Greece.
A favorite quote or motto that inspires you or you like to live by?
“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” Booker T. Washington
