We are excited to welcome Renee Hull, our Chief Financial Officer, to the team! She has a CPA license and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati and previously worked for National Door & Trim in Van Wert.
Here's a fun Q&A with Renee to help our members get to know the newest member of our PPEC family.
Tell us a bit about your family and where you're from.
"My husband, Shawn, and I got married two years ago (but first dated in 1990!) After having lived away from Paulding for nearly 27 years, Shawn drew me back home. Paige, our daughter, is 19 and lives with us full-time while attending college. We have four cats, the most recent of whom adopted us after showing up and never leaving! My mom also lives here in Paulding (and is retired from PPEC). My sister also moved back to the area about ten years ago and lives in Defiance with her husband and my mother-in-law lives just across the road."
Why did you want to work at PPEC?
"As I mentioned, my mom retired from here, so I have known of PPEC for a very long time and how great they are to their employees. I love being able to work in Paulding, where I live, and for a company that has proven over time how much it values its people and the communities it serves."
Tell us about your work history.
"I graduated from Wright State University in 1998 and started my accounting career as a Tax Accountant. I obtained my CPA license and my MBA (from the University of Cincinnati) in the years that followed. I've had the opportunity to work for a few great companies in Ohio and Indiana, including roles in accounting at OmniSource, Allison Payment Systems, and most recently, National Door and Trim in Van Wert. I prefer working for family-owned (and now member-owned) businesses because the focus is not just on profits but also on the employees and the community."
What will you be doing here at PPEC?
"I'm excited to get to work with the Member Services and Accounting organizations here at PPEC. I get to dig into all things related to the financials, including banking, rate analysis, member billing, cost management, budgeting, and forecasting."
What are you looking forward to?
"I am looking forward to engaging with the great staff here at PPEC, as well as with the community. Having grown up in Paulding, I am very committed to helping people that I have known my entire life, in some cases. It's a great opportunity for me to be so close to home and getting to do something I love (yes, I geek out over numbers!)."
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
"I am just getting into gardening - flowers and food. Last year was the first year I have kept flowers alive all summer, so I'm off to a good start. I'd eventually like to get chickens, too, but I should probably make sure the flowers survive again this year. I like to cook and try new recipes. I love to do scrapbooking and pretty much all crafts, and I enjoy reading fiction. I can also spend hours on the swing at night, enjoying time with my family."
A fun fact about you?
"You should probably not ask me to hold anything of value made of glass."
A favorite quote or motto that inspires you or you like to live by?
"Positivity breeds positivity."
