Congratulations to Marketing and Communications Manager Samantha Kuhn, who was voted by PPEC's employees as the 2024 Quarter 1 Rockstar Employee! This internal quarterly recognition program allows employees to nominate and vote on deserving co-workers who they feel have gone above and beyond or deserve recognition.
Samantha joined the PPEC team in May of 2018. Her role at the co-op is to oversee the Marketing and Communications department, shared marketing services with three neighboring co-ops, and the Operation Round Up Program.
Q&A with Samantha after receiving the award:
- What does the Rockstar Award mean to you?
"It’s an honor that my co-workers recognize my contributions to the co-op and my commitment to a high standard. As everyone can attest, work has been busy lately, and with recent circumstances in my personal life, I appreciate PPEC’s support."
- What projects or tasks have you been working on the last quarter? Do you have a favorite job/task/part of your work?
"Recent projects include revamping our new member welcome journey, compiling our 2024 parade schedule, overseeing the Operation Round Up program and donations, allocating sponsorships, and assisting with monthly communication channels, including our co-op magazines, email newsletters, etc. Shared marketing services with our neighboring co-ops have picked up this year, as we are doing a joint Member Appreciation Day event at the Fort Wayne Zoo Aug. 3 with Tricounty Rural Electric Cooperative (based in Malinta, Ohio). We are also holding a joint political action event with Midwest Electric (based in St. Marys, Ohio) later this summer."
- Why do you enjoy working at PPEC/with your co-workers?
"My co-workers are some of the most caring people I know, as nearly everyone gives back in more ways than one. They inspire me to ask more questions and seek new ways we can empower our community. Because we are not-for-profit, I can focus on telling impactful member stories and helping people rather than trying to make a profit. I love working for the co-op!"
