Welcome Nicole Gross to the PPEC accounting team

We are happy to welcome Nicole Gross, our full-time accountant, to the team! She makes a great addition to the accounting department.

She and her family (husband Eric and junior high daughter Jada) reside in Payne, Ohio (except her son who lives in Colorado with his wife). They have a family cat, Kitty, and dog, Buddy.

Here's a Q&A to get to know her better:

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your family and background?

I married Eric in Las Vegas, and we’re now just a few months away from reaching our 20-year anniversary! Eric is retired from the Air Force, serves on the Board of Public Affairs, and is always helping someone….whether it’s the town, a neighbor, or a friend. We are proud parents of two children. Liam resides with his wife, Alexis, in Colorado Springs, CO serving his country in the Army. He’s been in Poland for most of the year, while Alexis has been taking on extra college courses to get to graduation faster. Our daughter, Jada, just transitioned into Junior High. She cheers for Wayne Trace, loves watching funny videos, and shopping.

The household is run by their pets - Kitty, the cat is quite the introvert and prefers protecting her bubble from Buddy, the energetic family dog.

  1. Tell us about your schooling, degree, etc.

I attended college as an adult - a mom & working full time who needed breaks at times, but I never stopped. It took me 12 years to get my BA in Accounting from The Defiance College.

  1. Where do you live (city/town?) and why do you enjoy it there?

I live in Payne, OH. What I love most about living here is that it is small, and the community feels like another extension of family.

  1. Why did you want to work at PPEC?

I wanted to work at PPEC because it was a small organization that gives me the ability to have ownership of departmental functionality I can’t get working for a corporation. I also enjoy a long list of job duties since I like to stay busy, and to be close to my dad so I can take care of him as he ages.

  1. Can you tell us about your former work history and any related experience?

My background is accounting and expands over a period of about 20 years. In that time, it includes supporting and training accounting software users, statistical analysis for over twenty Tyson chicken plants, and most recently I was the Assistant Controller for a plastics manufacturer.

  1. What are you looking forward to in working here?

Coming to PPEC has given me the opportunity to learn a new industry. I look forward to getting to know everyone better and becoming knowledgeable enough to provide support to my department and the organization.

  1. What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?

When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me in my studio handmaking and hand painting artisan bath bombs, along with other bath and body products. I started making them when my daughter was young. She’s outgrown them, but I never stopped making them. You’ll find me behind a table at local craft fairs or you’ll discover my products in 5 stores within the surrounding counties.

  1. A fun or little-known fact about you? (Give it your best shot!)

Last year, I learned I am allergic to all meat. Yes! All meat! I’m pescatarian - I will eat fish and eggs.

  1. A favorite quote or motto that inspires you or you like to live by?

“Life gets busy. Doing, giving, helping, teaching, showing up, loving, caring. It’s easy to run on fumes. But you must remember to fuel your own heart. Your dreams, your passions, your health, you. Because you cannot give if you are empty. You matter too.”
